with gdm I can't log in

Hello,

I have this enabled in /etc/rc.conf
Code: 
gnome_enable="YES"
gdm_enable="YES"
hald_enable="YES"
dbus_enable="YES"

When I rebooted the box gdm shows up but no text-area's where shown so I can't log in.

Anyone a idea how to solve this very annoying problem.
I have a FreeBSD 8.2 64 bit system.
