Solved Why Are Version.Revision Numbers Appended To Executables?

Hi,

Just installed 10.2-RELEASE-p9. Been running a 8.2-RELEASE-p3 machine for quite some time.

Installed perl using "pkg install ...". Couldn't find perl. Then I did. So why is everything installed with the version and revision numbers appended?
