Solved When I run fdisk -l it returns illegal option

When I run fdisk -l it returns 'fdisk: illegal option -- l' then shows the usage

Usage: fdisk [-BIaipqstu] [-b bootcode] [-1234] [disk]
            fdisk -f configfile [-itv] [disk]

I need to use this command to look at all my partitions to see which one is bootable so I can mount it as root and begin to recover some data on another drive. OVH chooses the weirdest way for us to recover stuff...

Try gpart(8), e.g. gpart show.

FreeBSD's fdisk(8) is not the same as the Linux command. As Juanitou says, gpart(8) is the right thing to use on FreeBSD.

Indeed, BSD commands often differ a lot from their GNU counterparts, which is what most Linux's seem to use.
man(1) is your friend.
