what does this mean when trying to run steam?

steam checks for updates and then when it tries to launch at the end it says:

MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
MESA-LOADER: failed to retrieve device information
i915: driver missing
glx: failed to create dri3 screen
failed to load driver: i915

I do have drm-kmod installed and i do have i915 loaded.

glxgears -info:

GL_RENDERER = Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2)
GL_VERSION = 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 24.1.7
GL_VENDOR = Intel


I dont know why glxgears works but not steam. i am on x11
