Solved What does "rc" stand for?

Recently, salvaged another PC from recycling and installed FreeBSD-12.0
on it. While coding the /etc/rc.conf it occurred to me that I
have no idea at all what "rc" stands for. Does anybody know? Curious.
 
Huh. Learned something new today. I always thought it stood for either "resource control" or "resource configuration". :)
