bhyve VM won't start until VNC connection

For some reason bhyve won't boot a VM until I make a connection with VNC. It will just sit there forever not doing anything. I searched for this problem and only see references in FreeNAS and the solution is to uncheck the "wait to boot" option. How is this accomplished via the console? Thanks.

How are you starting the VM?

It's an option that's enabled when starting bhyve(8) VNC backend.

Code:
wait Instruct bhyve to only boot upon the initiation of a VNC
connection, simplifying the installation of operating systems
that require immediate keyboard input. This can be removed
                 for post-installation use.

It was a line on my config file copied from a tutorial.

Code:
-s 29,fbuf,tcp=0.0.0.0:5900,w=1024,h=768, wait \

I have removed the wait option.
