Very high RAM usage on fresh install

FreeBSD-Stable 14.1 inside proxmox. have gpu passtrough - neofetch, sudo, xorg, git and neovim, nvidia installed = ram usage 10GB + - not even loaded to VM to any kind of DE/WM.
I understand zfs - but is this correct ?
For testing purpose i rebooted my laptop - before hitting startx - neofetch shows less than 2GB RAM , booted to WM , started second monitor - checked neofetch - terminal, 6 ff tabs open - 4500MB.
I gave my VM only 12GB RAM and 12 cores.

What do you mean by "RAM usage" - you'll have to show where/what you mean? Is this from top?

I think that FreeBSD takes unused RAM as wasted RAM so will use as much as it can (after the RAM it needs for programs) for buffers etc. so "free RAM" is usually low.

I understand - unused ram = wasted ram. but as i wrote: neofetch on laptop on fresh restart = less than 2gb in tty, freebsd inside proxmox in tty - 10GB +. So i think this is a bit of a difference right ?
What btop is showing i have no understanding but very strange thing is - after 20 min - my FreeBSD inside proxmox ram usage dropped to 811MiB. ( again, neofetch ).
So it starts high and with time it drops down. So im trying to understand why , whats wrong - what can i do from fbsd side and if i can do anything from fbsd side.

I think you will need to provide more information for people to be able to help. You're using btop - somewhere - and somewhere you get some different RAM numbers from something somewhere?

I know if I run an RAM-intensive program then FreeBSD will grab a lot of RAM and then when the program ends, free RAM will show a big boost. That might be what you are seeing when RAM usage drops to 811MB, but ... it's hard to know what you are describing.
