username problem

I tried to make a username based upon my first and middle names.
I tried Lloyd followed by random numbers, Arthur followed by numbers.
both times it says my names are disallowed words?
what gives?
Does this forum mandate Dog and Cat names and have a hatred for common names?

You might understand when you see the stream of spammers trying to get in. Generic name plus random number all around.

It is sad it had to come to this, but banning a large list of Firstname entries has literally kept thousands of spammers out in just a few days. Just type Lloyd or Arthur into the search box at https://stopforumspam.com/search. It is what it is.

BTW, you can always request a username change, the barrier is only applicable to sign-ups.

Not a good practice. Forum spammers are really the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the downsides of that practice:
