Solved Upgraded to 10.1 pkg update needs more space

I know this is about packages but this occurred after I updated. I'm supposed to run pkg upgrade -f after updating but
The process will require 123 MiB more space. 761 MiB to be downloaded.

What to do? Is it possible to update some of them manually and then delete them?

What I don't understand is I haven't used packages at all so I'm assuming these are things installed by other ports.

On top of that, xorg no longer works with a missing screen error.

I upgraded from 9.3 -> 10.0 -> 10.1

EDIT: It just occurred to me in the shower that part of this problem may have happened because, when I did a portmaster -af to upgrade all the ports, it went through a long list of things it was going to do until it hit one (gnomehier) and said it was deleted and no longer used. However, it then said "aborting update" . But portmaster -af is suppose to update all ports and therein lies my problem, I think

It appears that this issue of upgrading all the ports has been around a while and it's a matter of finding the problem ports and deleting them but keeping track in case you need to reinstall them. In my case, xorg is one due to one of the dependencies but there were three or four total I had to remove.

I'm installing everything now. I'll check back in a week when it completes :)

And portmaster -af was the real issue. I uninstalled about three ports causing that to fail and let it run. Unfortunately, three or four of the ports failed to build for various reasons, mostly linux-c6 stuff that I don't care about and a vulnerable port that wouldn't install anyway. So I had to manually install the list of ports that failed, which was inconvenient but no big deal, and now I've got everything working except www/chromium and emulators/virtualbox. The first I'm aware it has problems and the second I haven't looked into yet.
