Solved Upgrade from 11.1 to 11.2 - no Xwindows

Greetings all,

I did my first upgrade, following the Handbook, and everything appeared to proceed as described therein. Thus I tried startx and was rewarded by a black screen, cursor-like rectangle (non-blinking) that I can move down with arrow keys, and a frozen mouse cursor.

The /var/log/Xorg.0.log does not contain any errors, but ends with a line
Code:
NVIDIA(0):Enabling 2D accelleration
, thus I am not sure, whether the file is complete. I tried several times, but the content of the files in all the trials is the same.

Any help would be appreciated. Alternatively, is there a way I could save all my settings and compiled packages, and reinstall?

Kindest regards,

M

Reinstall x11/nvidia-driver from ports tree. If required, replace "nvidia-driver"
with your nvidia driver version, for example "nvidia-driver-340". Also, there are some problems
with VBox kernel module package, if your machine is not able to boot after upgrade to 11.2,
you should also reinstall emulators/virtualbox-ose-kmod from ports tree.
