Solved Trying to run FreeBSD 13.0 on a RPi 4

I downloaded the latest stable 13.0. I use Raspberry Pi Imager to burn it to a USB drive (also tried a SSD using a USB to data converter).

The Raspberry pi I am using has had no trouble booting Raspberry PI OS or Ubuntu directly from the USB.

This what happens when I try,

it hangs on a 4 color blend screen

any idea what I am doing wrong?
