Solved Triskaidekaphobia?

I'm a little confused about what I'm seeing at main site about the next release numbering.

Main page and release engineering information indicates that the next release in progress is 13.
However, ISO-IMAGES downloads jump from version 12.2 to 14.

Is there some irrational fear of the number 13 going on (aka triskaidekaphobia)?
Has release engineering just moved to 14 for some other reason and pages are not updated?

Inquiring minds are curious.

This the most d… peculiar question of the week. The download page list release images and development snapshots. 13 is still in pre-release state, so download links are only present in announcement emails. (There is no reason why it should or should not be listed, it's just not there. The docs people probably don't want to bother with weekly changes.)

Unfortunately, the directory listing at https://download.freebsd.org/ftp/snapshots/amd64/amd64/ISO-IMAGES/ shows the series 11, 12 and then 14. No '13' directory to be found. All references to 'next release' on freebsd home page, releng et al, show upcoming release as 13 NOT 14.

I want to believe, as Mjölnir has suggested (sorry - ran out of e-tylonol), that there's a typo. Fat fingers or otherwise is not unheard of. However, the proliferation of the pattern 11, 12, 14 repeats in other folders at https://download.freebsd.org/ftp/snapshots/

You're looking at the snapshots. I assume there are no snapshots yet as 13 is in release process (at RC stage) right now. Of course, there ARE already snapshots for 14 which is the new -CURRENT.

And that's the issue I was running into. Starting at the freebsd home page and navigating to version 12 download I got buried in a subdirectory of the snapshots folder. It was odd to me that a "download" folder was missing a version or other discontinuity.

Well, this particular folder will be there as soon as there is activity on stable/13 after release of 13.0.

On a quick glance, I could find a link to the snapshots area only far down the "download" page in the 14.0-CURRENT section, but not on the release page for 12.2.

Zirias - not sure how exactly I got turned around in the snapshots folder. I recall looking at the status of the 13 release noting that an RC was forthcoming. I may have clicked the snapshots from there descending into this rabbit hole. It just struck me as odd that a version not at RC stage had numerous download folders shown.

On the plus side, if there is one, I've raised awareness of fear of '13'. Speak to a doctor for treatment options.

Whatever you call it, it's an abstraction anyways. Yes, "directory" accurately describes the model of the data stored on disk here, while "folder" is even further abstracted. But I don't see any reason to fight over wording.
