The pointer go anywhere when I use the mouse cursor to edit a message

I want to say that when I edit a message after posting it and put the line pointer with the mouse cursor where I want to make a change the pointer go anywhere else so, I have to place the pointer again where I want with the mouse cursor and than I can edit correctly. This only happen the first time after I have press the Edit button. It's not a big problem but have a frustrating effect.

What's the web browser, and exact version? OS and version?

I do have frequent problems with editions (paper cuts, not significant bugs), but I can not reproduce what you describe.

The content sort of jumps around, but the cursor remains in place.

I have the same problem. If you look carefully, you'll notice that after you push 'edit', you have your post displayed for edit, but the toolbar is missing. When you click with the mouse the place you want to edit, the toolbar starts to load itself, and if you have some blocks [ ] this results in a cursor move.

There's also problem with quotes, if you don't post them one by one, effects may be very strange (like inserting some quotes inside other quotes).

When you click with the mouse the place you want to edit, …

For me, a simple click (without selection) is bug-free.

There's a problem if I try to select.

In retrospect, the problem probably taught me to attempt nothing more than a simple click. Subliminal learning.

… quotes, …

I usually work around this problem by adding excessive white space then reducing after pasting.

The Quote feature can help to avoid the problem.
