Used "UPDATING" to find the commands to use portmaster for updating Ruby. Thanks to whomever put this together. This has saved me a great deal of trouble.
Yeah, /usr/ports/UPDATING can be an invaluable source of information at times. Be sure to always read it before updating. As you found out it can save you a lot of headaches
