Solved Terminal file manager misc/lf not operational

Hello FreeBSD community,

i want to try the misc/lf terminal file manager, but it does not work on my system. The program starts up and shows the inital panel view, but it does not receive further input, it locks up completely and can not be killed with ctrl+c. The log /tmp/lf.steps.1000.log shows, that it can not connect to the socket /tmp/lf.steps.sock:

But the socket exists. Do you have any idea what is causing this problem? Did anyone run misc/lf successfuly on FreeBSD?
