system-config-printer-kde: No "Authentication Required" dialog

FreeBSD + KDE 4.6.2.

The printer I use requires password to access and print. Whenever any user tries to print, they are prompted for a user name and password in a dialog saying "Authentication Required". Entering user names and passwords will allow one to print. An example on Gnome desktop:

Unfortunately, I find that there is NO such "Authentication Required" dialog on KDE 4.x. So whenever I print from any KDE application (like Ocular, Kile, etc), it fails. Very annoying.

On the other hand, I can print from any non-KDE applications like firefox, thunderbird, etc, because they all have the "Authentication Required" dialog.

I have another machine running Ubuntu(Gnome) on which the printer works
flawlessly.

Anyone have encountered the same problem? Any solutions?

Btw, I have submitted a bug to the KDE bug tracking system:
