Stuttering XBMC, Debug help required

Hello people!
I have just started using FreeBSD. I will first list out my hardware:

AMD Athlon 7750+ BE
Gigabyte 780G S2H
6 GB RAM, DDR2, 800 Mhz
WD Caviar Green, 500 GB
Connected to a Samsung LCD via HDMI
Software: FreeBSD version 8.3, no updates installed.
Xorg, gnome installed via pkg_add(1) from DVD installation media
Display works at 1280x720
Sound works on HDMI

I installed XBMC with pkg_add(1). All the dependencies were installed properly without any errors. As soon as I start XBMC, the mouse pointer on XBMC starts lagging. Movie clip with XVID video and 2 Channel MP3 audio also lags. The sound is proper though. The same movie clip works properly on the default movie player.

Where should I start looking for problems?

What default? FreeBSD doesn't have a default anything.

What videocard? And how is your Xorg configured?
 
The movie clip works fine on Totem Movie player. I guess that is accompanied by gnome desktop.
The motherboard is based on AMD 780G chipset which uses ATI HD3200 as the graphics card.

First I had installed xf86-video-ati. Searching on the net to get sound over HDMI, I got a pointer that the radeonhd driver is capable of sound over HDMI. So I added that package and got sound over HDMI. I suspected driver conflicts so I removed xf86-video-ati using pkg_delete, but still no luck. The stutter continues.
