Solved Steam-linux-utils trys to open file that doesn't exist

This morning I installed games/linux-steam-utils from the ports tree and after the initial install dialog, steam crashes.
The following output is given ~10 times before the program eventually shows a dialog saying that steamwebhelper has crashed.
Code:
[[sh]]
[[-c]]
[[exec '/home/steam/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_64/steamwebhelper.sh.patched' '-nocrashdialog' '-lang=en_US' '-cachedir=/home/steam/.steam/steam/config/htmlcache' '-steampid=74678' '-buildid=1766177208' '-steamid=0' '-logdir=/home/steam/.steam/steam/logs' '-uimode=7' '-startcount=13' '-steamuniverse=Public' '-realm=Global' '-clientui=/home/steam/.steam/steam/clientui' '-steampath=/home/steam/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam' '-launcher=0' '-use_xcomposite_workaround' '--valve-initial-threadpool-size=8' '--valve-enable-site-isolation' '--enable-smooth-scrolling' '--disable-gpu-compositing' '--disable-gpu' '--password-store=basic' '--log-file=/home/steam/.steam/steam/logs/cef_log.txt' '--disable-quick-menu' '--disable-component-update' '--gaia-url=http://disabled.invalid' '--disable-features=WinRetrieveSuggestionsOnlyOnDemand,SpareRendererForSitePerProcess,DcheckIsFatal,BlockPromptsIfIgnoredOften,ValveFFmpegAllowLowDelayHEVC' --no-sandbox]]

/usr/local/steam-utils/lxbin/lsu-webhelper-chroot.rb:20:in `<main>': unhandled exception

I ran file /home/steam/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_64/steam-runtime-sniper.tar.xz and got
Code:
/home/steam/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_64/steam-runtime-sniper.tar.xz: cannot open `/home/steam/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_64/steam-runtime-sniper.tar.xz' (No such file or directory)

I can't find anywhere to get this file off of the web, is there a way to fetch it? I imagine steam is supposed to get it automatically but I have no idea where from.

I have been running steam with
sudo -usteam steam although I don't see how that would cause any troubles. (steam is a separate user I created for running steam. It has a home directory)
