Status of iwlwifi support of n/ac/ax modes

I cannot find a definitive answer about this. The only thing that makes sense to me is what the manpage says:
While iwlwifi supports all 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax the compatibility code
currently only supports 802.11 a/b/g modes. Support for 802.11 n/ac is
to come. 802.11ax and 6Ghz support are planned.

This is consistent with what I see, my FreeBSD 14.1 laptop network speed is around 20Mb/sec whilst my iPhone and my Android tablet easily reach 600Mb/sec.

Anyone knows what's the status of this driver with regards to n/ac/ax modes?
 
I've seen some discussion on phabricator wrt this driver and the ath driver. There are a lot of reviews in the pipeline.
