Solved [Solved] "uname -a" gives -p7, freebsd-version gives -p8

Hi,

after the usual usage of the freebsd-update command to update my FreeBSD 10.0 RELEASE-p7, I noticed that after the update was done, uname -a did not change accordingly. So that I have now:

Code:
fbsd_home:~ bernd$ freebsd-version
10.0-RELEASE-p8
fbsd_home:~ bernd$ uname -a
FreeBSD fbsd_home 10.0-RELEASE-p7 FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p7 #0: Tue Jul 8 06:37:44 UTC 2014 root@amd64-builder.daemonology.net:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64

Did somebody experience the same thing when updating? What could have went wrong here?
Thank you for any answer.

Re: uname -a gives RELEASE-p7, freebsd-version gives RELEASE

I asked about this just a few days ago. The kernel was not updated by -p8, and uname reports the version of the running kernel. Nothing is wrong, it's just the way uname works, and also the reason for adding freebsd-version.

Here is my question about the same thing, but for 9.2-p11.
