Solved [Solved] gmirror array migration

I have a single OS drive and a gmirror(8) RAID1 array for data made up of 2 other drives. I am replacing the OS drive and going from FreeBSD 8 to v10. When I boot up on the new drive there the mirrored set does not come up. Is there something needed to import the data mirror to the new install?

is present in loader.conf.

I still have the original drive in the system and it can boot with the mirror intact so everything is okay. Just need to get the mirror up in the new install/drive somehow.

I actually meant loader.conf, long day. Here is some more info from the new install. ada0 and ada1 are the array, ada2 is the old install and ada3 is the new install. The Promise controller is in IDE mode since I am not using fakeraid.

You have two different RAID drivers fighting over the same disks because the disks seem to have metadata belonging to a RAID array created using a Promise soft-RAID controller. Mixing gmirror(8) with the Promise RAID array is never going to work. Try this in /boot/loader.conf:

You can also test if that setting helps from the loader prompt without having to change the /boot/loader.conf first. Drop to the loader prompt and type this:
