Solved [Solved] Cannot install FreeBSD 10

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to install FreeBSD on my HP DL385 Dual Opteron server for a while now and keep failling.

I have copied the FreeBSD image on a USB key.
At boot time, the server recognize the USB and boot it up. Just after the Beasty image show up, I press entered to start the installation process and the screen always get stuck at this stage (See screenshot on link below)

Sorry but the image is really the only way I can show you the problem.

I know it's not much to go on but I'm hoping someone here might know.

Further search on Google said that this server has not been tested for FreeBSD... Would that be the issue here?

How long have you waited at that prompt? Some servers have pauses for controller timeouts or other hardware that can take several minutes.

Sorry this is my first box bought cheaply online.
Do you mean to disable ACPI in the ROM configuration of the BIOS?

Thank you all for your replies. I managed to install FreeBSD without changing anything..weird. But as soon as I start to do anything the system panics and crashes. Once the system was installed, I ran freebsd-update fetch and after a few seconds, the system crashed and shutdown. I think that the server might be dead or I have an option in there that I have set wrongly. Would anyone help me analyze the crash files please? I have no experience at all in reading them.

RAID controller battery was dead and I also had one disk failure.
