SimpleX Chat

For the server part: Yep, it woks very well in FreeBSD.
Been using it in our family for the past 6 months.

Reason is opensource, selfhosted and mainly due to easy recovery compared to matrix element (which we use too for multi device support).

I pretty much followed their document for installation.
The compilation process creates the binary files (smplx and sftpx something like that).

Sorry it was a long time ago and I stopped using SimplexChat.

The reason is, it is not multi-device supported and all the data is simply in the phone and need to be backed up regularly. This is impracticable for me and especially for the family.

Ended up solely using matrix. With element-X this has simplified most of the annoyances but not all. The multi-device support and all data in the server (single point backup) is far more simpler with matrix compared to SimplexChat.
