I know there are a lot of fans of the Fluxbox Window Manager and I thought we should make a specific thread to just screenshots for Fluxbox. People look at screenshots to view specific Window Managers or Desktop Environments.Would make things easier for people just looking. If the mods agree, could we make this a Sticky?

I will start

Fluxbox-1.1.0.1_2
Mplayer playing I Robot
Aterm with ZSH
Scrot for screenshot
Torsmo for viewing System Resources ( Work in progress )
Wallpaper: Shut Up and Hack

Hello all,

I havenot a chance to use FreeBSD for my desktop (though I used it for my other purposes). I am using Arch Linux on my PC. I think my following words may cause some wars but I must agree that Fluxbox isnot as flexible as Openbox though it's easily to configure Fluxbox than Openbox :) And conky is a very good replacement of torsmo :) I have switched to Openbox after being Flux's fan in about 3 years :)

I haven't good screenshots, though.

Best wishes

Hey, that's the joy of having options, right? I have been playing with both torsmo and conky actually. I haven't made a decision on which I prefer yet. Screenshots give people a feel of something before they install it. You do not have to like or use Fluxbox simply because someone else does. Go create a thread for OpenBox Screenshots if you want. I have a feeling this is going to be the most popular *BSD Forum yet. Enjoy!

Hehe, your thread encouraged me to register since I'm trying to set up Fluxbox to my liking. It's not complete yet, but here's how it looks for now.

- Fluxbox 1.1.0.1 on FBSD 7
- Toolbar and slit disabled at compilation time
- Xclock, MC, XTerm, Firefox, Scrot, Xcompmgr, Artwiz fonts
- Self made style
- Wallpaper from http://www.shadowness.com/

That is a snazzy set-up you have there my friend. That wallpaper looks really familiar. Looks kinda like the West Loop looking towards the Eisenhower Expressway along Congress here in Chicago. Hmm... whatever. I like the look. It looks great.

I liked the idea of using sysctl hw.acpi.battery.life | cut -c 23-2

Are you sure it's suppose to be 23-2 and not 23-25? I had to use the latter one.

Cutting chars at exact position is not practical, use "delimiting" cutting of data you need:
Code:
% sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature | cut -d ' ' -f 2
% sysctl hw.acpi.thermal.tz0.temperature | awk '{print $2}'

Code:
sysctl -n $foo

is your friend. No need for awk / cut etc.

How did you disable toolbar and slit at compilation? Didn´t see it in the option. Did you edit the actual code? Care to show me how? :)
