That is some serious retro hardware. I'm going to guess, at least 15 years old? Not even sure if a recent FreeBSD will work on it, besides the obvious graphical issues.

if you go to live cd or shell and type tzsetup does it look bad ?
if it does look bad exit it and type
stty onlcr and then try again
