Hello,
I installed 8.0 and updated it on an asus p5e-vm hdmi, which has 6 sata 300 ports. Because I intend to use a raidz across 6 non-os disks, I used an old MASSCOOL PCI RAID card (with a sil3114 chip, 4 internal ports) to connect the system disk. There's no raid set up in the bios; the sil3114 card is just connected to one SATA disk. The install to that disk went fine & went pretty fast (compared to the same install with the same disk connected directly to the mobo), but when I boot, it couldn't be any slower (the \|/ moves soooo slow) although it seems to basically boot up normally. However, I gave up after booting for one hour..
I could get another SATA card, but I'm thinking I probably have some sort of conflict where the installer was using one generic SATA driver (to run the two different controllers) and everything went fine, but now that the OS is running that is no longer the case..
Any help would be much obliged,
thanks,
-BG
