RPi 3 Model B low r/w USB speed

Hello,

I have RPi 3 with FreeBSD 14.1-RELEASE on it and I use it to download torrents with net-p2p/transmission.
I decided to install a usb pendrive with the UFS file system and download files to it.
But I noticed that the file write speed is very very slow, less than the download speed.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Is there any trick to improve the write speed on a USB device?

most usb pen drives suck badly at random writes. speeds under 1MB/s are not uncommon. low/mid end sd cards are not much better. cheap external ssd is probably your best bet.
