bhyve Rocky Linux installer console mouse problems

My experience with Rocky Linux as a BHyve guest has generally been satisfactory. One difficulty I have is that using vncviewer to connect to the guest during installation results in mouse behaviour which seriously delays the process. It is often impossible to move the mouse cursor to the necessary buttons without repeated attempts.

Is there any fix for this? Is an alternative client available?
 
I've not done text install in awhile, but if I remember correctly, RH crippled text install around RHEL6 or 7, you might be unable to partition your disk the way you want. Please update after you've done it, if you have time and inclination.
