the more crutches you supply to people, techs, servicedesks, the less they need to learn. and the less they actually know. and then you can start deceiving them.

In the past those crutches were designed to support not "control". service desk: customer calls in with a problem , go through these top 5 reasons, then think.
Now? Call support on anything and force them to go off script and you get them to lockup and freeze.
