Questions for 64-bit Freebsd

Hi i have installed 64-bit Freebsd 8.0 on an intel core 2 duo and i have also an Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS graphics card.
1) I tried to install emerald and/or compiz-fusion and i get error. [SOLVED]
2) I cannot install mesa-demos from ports - how can i figure out if openGL is enabled? [SOLVED]

3) what is pulseaudio and how can i disable it?[SOLVED]

[*] Ok , i found that i had to deinstall the nvidia-driver before installing mesa-demos and/or compiz-fusion / emerald. (I don't know why).
 
Try to post the actual errors, otherwise no one can help you.

Is your ports tree up to date?
How did you install the nvidia driver?
