question about xscreensaver in freebsd14.2 ?

dear all:
morning, i have used xscreensaver in awesome GUI desktop with freebsd14.2 . i have configure xscreensaver 10minutes blank screen and lock it. but when i watch the movie , nothing i touch, the screen still blank and locked . how to unlock screen when i watch movie ? thanks.

Config details depend on the player you're using. I use multimedia/vlc, it's usually a good bet for overriding the existing xscreensaver settings.

I discovered that other players, like multimedia/mpv are a bit of a crapshoot as to how reliable they can be.

I move the mouse every so often.. No solution for mpv for me. Hopefully someone does have a solution. Probably could run it from a script and do some sh wrangling.
