PSA: issues with Broadcom 5720 is still a thing in 14.3

I do find it interesting that apparently it is somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to if a particular bge interface will work or not. I cannot get any of the R720's that I installed 14.3 on to work.

Is there an update on the driver for the BCM5720?
We just got a R720 from Dell and need to get the driver update to run FreeBSD 9.0.

The one thing that I have not tried yet is to see if there is a firmware update. More to come I suppose if I feel dedicated enough ..

Turns out this is about how dedicated I am ..

As much as I dislike Dell servers with OEMR XL BIOS in them .. popped the hood on an OEMR R720 that I have laying around and lo and behold it has an Intel I350 QP card in it.

It may just be me but I do like seeing the SMC design of the Intel card vs the Broadcom.

Anyway .. this legit R720 is now up and running after disabling inventory collection because of "Part Replacement license is not present" error.
