In short, a port I use daily was updated upstream, with not only code changes but also with the language used (zig). The current FreeBSD maintainer doesn't have the time to dedicate to it and he's willing to hand it over to anyone interested.
I tried to look at it but as is it doesn't compile under FreeBSD and I don't have the slightest idea on how to fix it, thus my question: what is the normal procedure in this case? Right now the version in the ports repository works just fine but maybe in the future it won't.
