Solved Port keeps reinstalling (not upgraded) when using portmaster

Hello all,

I use portmaster -da to check and upgrade ports.
Recently I am seeing the x11-fonts/noto-basic port get reinstalled on every upgrade of other ports.
However that port hasn't seen an update since March this year.
Wondering how to fix this issue of pointless re-installs.

Thank you.

Edit: it seems the entry in /usr/ports/UPDATING for 2019-03-03 holds the solution. I deleted the old port to make the reported behavior go away.

Could it possibly be a port that is needed for the building of a different port, then deleted after the build???

Or another possibility: do you happen to mix ports ( # make install build (or Portmaster of course)) as well as binary packages ( # pkg install)? Because that could also be a recipe for strange behavior.

I limited the prebuilt offerings installed on the machine to www/qt5-webengine & www/qt5-webkit as those take an unreal amount of time to build. COuld that be enough?

:what: Wouldn't have thought that would be the case for an XWindows font port. Pethaps a compiler or library.

I use ports-mgmt/portmaster exclusively unless the situation demands otherwise. I have seen it reinstall a program that was already installed when installing or updating another program several times. One of the python programs seems to come to mind as one it reinstalled but can't be more specific.

I always took it to be the orderly fashion it deemed fit for the procedure and went on without question.
