PF PFSense on DEC3840 (Netboard A20)

I have been trying to install PFsense on a DEC3840, which is a network appliance with an EPYC 3101 embedded processor. It hangs when loading the kernel and just sits there. I am however able to install OPNSense with no issue (not surprising being that it is sold as an OPNSense appliance). I personally prefer PFSense as I am more familiar with it. Is anyone aware of any modifications that OPNSense has made to the kernel that would allow that to work and not PFSense?

That sounds like an excellent question to ask at the pfSense forum, or the OPNSense forum. Since it is specific to those products, and not a FreeBSD issue, I doubt you will get any answers here.

I already have, they looked at the loader.conf files of both and concluded that it may be a compatibility issue with FreeBSD and that specific hardware.

That's a good advert not to use a derivative, then.
