When I first read about it that it was possible years ago I figured why would anyone would want to do this. Now I've come to a point where it's probably a requirement for me. I'm an engineer. And I work with PLC's as a life long user of FreeBSD, ofcourse I want to test these things in BSD. So when I noticed that twincat had made it's own version of bsd I was excited to try it. Up until the point I read they use bhyve to virtualize the PLC with a bhyve hypervisor.
Because that meanth I had to have actual hardware to play with this. But then I remembered reading about virtualising vmm passing it through to a bhyve virtualisation. So I started to look for how this is done but for some reason I can't find a good reference on how to do this.
For me this is not about performance. This is about being able to test this without having to get actual hardware.
