I have an old ath0 wifi card from mid 2000s that I run as a wifi router at home. But it runs so super hot (I'm sure it's some micrometer scale dye or something). Maybe, just maybe there's some trick to dial down the load on the card? I doubt we can control frequency of atheros cards? If worst comes to worst I have a nice little space heater running at home at all times - and thankfully I am in a relatively cool climate.
