Solved okular being weird

I'm on 14.2 release, XFCE DE. The okular appearance is weird. It looks many menu options or boxes/buttons are not is correct places or scale. Anyone seeing similar?

I'm assuming you're using pre-compiled packages?

One technique that helps with weird rendering like this is to switch to a totally different DE theme. Sometimes one theme is simply more complete than the default.

So, basically, switch to a new XFCE theme. There should be a few options to pick from.

Yes. I do pkg install okular.
By switch to a different theme, do you mean "Applications -> Settings -> Window Manager", and "Theme" box in "Style" tab? I tried many other themes, no difference.
I also reinstalled okular. No help.

Yeah, if you had the full KDE installation, you'd be able to switch the KDE theme, and by extension, change how Okular looks. Okular is a KDE app, so it would look more at home in a KDE desktop, rather than XFCE.

I'm personally not a fan of mixing QT with other GUI toolkits like GTK/Tk/whatever, because they generally don't play that well with one another. I'd recommend trying a different PDF viewer, like xPDF... For me personally, that kind of broken rendering is a showstopper, even if I like the features otherwise.

Yes. By my experience it can cause issues if you're using some apps that are meant for/being part of a certain DE outside their natural evironment.
This ain't no scientific examination, but just my personal feeling only: it seems to me it's not just an issue about QT or which GTK but also KDE apps seem to cause more trouble as gnome desktop apps seem to cause less when used in another DE/WM; since I don't use neither of them I cannot explain, and some may prove I'm wrong.

However, since I don't run no DEs but pure WMs only I always prefer and try to use independent apps. So I don't use Okular but zathura and xpdf as pdf viewers, and other tools for e.g. e-books etc.
