Solved Nvidia and Xorg....again.

So, I have been trying to enable the nvidia drivers for my old GT-520 card in my downstairs machine, and not having a lot of luck so far.

I did pkg install nvidia-drivers-390 and everything went ahead apparently correctly. That was followed with a pile of "notes" as to what changes I had to make to rc.conf, loader.conf, and xorg.conf, which I did. Result was a black screen with the mouse pointer on the screen, but the mouse deactivated.

So I rebooted into single-user mode, did mount -u / and commented out or reversed all the edits I had made to the appropriate files, then rebooted.

Everything is now back to normal, but I really would like to use my Nivida GT-520. xorg.conf shows the driver as vesa.

Considering that I have not given a terrible amount of detail, can anyone suggest something I may have not done, or need to do to get this card in operation?

I have read many of the posts to this forum on this issue, but so far, no joy.
