Solved No Way to Correct Config Error? =>=> Bricked System?

Hi. Am I missing something here?

I just edited /etc/rc.conf and missed an opening quote mark (") .
Saved the edit.
Went to reboot, won't boot, stops at (I assume) shell,
login as root,
read-only file system,
NO WAY to edit and save /etc/rc.conf to correct my error.

= Bricked system.

Have to totally start over and re-install everything?

What if this was a production server?

OOOPS.

Am I missing something here?
How can I edit and save this file
to correct my mistake?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Dave

From the handbook (if you want to read more or other people find this thread):

Single-user mode is usually used to repair a system that will not boot due to an inconsistent file system or an error in a boot configuration file.
