Network driver not working on supported device

Hello,

I recently purchased a new Lenovo Thinkcentre m75q specifically with the idea of installing freebsd 12.1. I do not have experience on Freebsd, so forgive me if I lack the details to get help.

The nic is an "RTL8111/8166/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller"
When I use the command "pciconf -lv" I see as such, but it is listed that it does not have a driver. To my understanding, it should use "re" and appear as re0, not none3.

Is there a way to force the nic to use the re driver? Thank you for any assistance.

FreeBSD 12.1 has been End-of-Life since January 2021 and is not supported any more. Use a supported version (13.3 or 14.1).

Try net/realtek-re-kmod. If you experience problems in stability with that driver, try net/realtek-re-kmod198.

Follow instructions displayed after install.

On 14.1 the driver must be installed from ports, with the 14.1 source code installed, to match the kernel version.
