Anyone familiar with netconsole - nc()?

I'm not exactly sure how it works but I thnk it needs to be setup as a client server relationship, and I believe it can be used for viewing uBoot info during the boot process. At least that is my understanding. The problem seems to be that I have a GoFlex Home unit with some setting which I've forgotten. Is there any way to find out what it is looking for?

Should I think about using socat()?
 
Thanks, but that user guide deals with Seagate software on a GoFlex Home unit. I installed something else.

Fortunately I found some old posts on another forum which sorted things out.

nc() was outputting to a particular IP and I didn't know which that was, but all is well now
