Solved /net

FreeBSD creates a/net directory on installation, but I have no idea what it is for. It is not even mentioned here.

Does anyone know its purpose?

It seems strange that https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/dirstructure.html and hier(7) are different...

It would be useful to see how /net is actually used in practice...

Should I mount samba here, as well as NFS shares?

The Handbook does not claim to be a complete list and even points you to hier() for a complete list.

/net/ is clearly stated to be for

automounted NFSshares

so I don't know if that would be a good idea.
