I'm sure the solution to my problem is straightforward for you network gurus, but I'm unsure how to set about it.
My situation is that the house is connected to the Internet via an ASUS broadband router. I have two laptops connect via wifi - they use the 192.168.1.0 subnet. I also have a couple of powerline adapters, one of which is connected by cable to the ASUS router. The other one is connected to TalkTalk rebranded Huawei HG633. This one is set up as a DHCP server with an address of 192.168.3.1 with a couple of systems connected, both of which can ping 192.168.1.1 and 8.8.8.8, but neither of the systems on the other subnet.
Should I disable DHCP on this router, enable DHCP proxy and set a static IP from the 192.168.1.0 subnet?
In the router config there is no option for getting an IP address from the broadband router, so I suppose it has to be static.
Also in the configuration there is a tickbox to 'Enable Option 125'. I've no idea what this means.
I'm reluctant to experiment because if I break things I need to do a reset and start all over again trying to get Internet access.
