I've been playing with a number of Linux distros on bhyve, with an Xorg host, Tiger_VNC, and using bootrom with bhyve-firmware BHYVE_UEFI.fd.
Some distros launch without a problem, while others seem to hang, or take a very long time to get into the Live system. For example Ubuntu 22 launches fine, but Ubuntu 23 hangs. Fedora 38 Xfce is fine, but Fedora 38 hangs, or takes a long time to load.
I'm using a common script for launching all of them, where the only difference is the variable pointing at the ISO file, and the variable which stores the name of the VM, so that should largely rule out typos on my end. bhyve and VNC launch with no problems, it's the boot that hangs.
Could I encounter problems by running Wayland VMs on my Xorg host? Also, here's a snip of where a lot of the boot environments seem to fail:
Also, whenever the VM is shut down, it kills some of the web pages I'm on, inside of running jails, totally separate from the VM. I get an error from Decentraleyes and uBlock, and it forces me to reload the pages. I can't decided if this is related to the VNC, or bhyve. This is all an i3wm.
