MATE mate-terminal sessions do not show in login records (w/who/etc.)

When I open up a mate-terminal session on my FreeBSD 10.1-RELEASE system, I do not see the session show in any login records ( w/ who/ finger/et al.)

I have "run command as a login shell" enabled (and gnome-pty-helper is installed), but would there be something else I should check?
