After sorting out a major problem with my filesystem on one of my disks, I have found a /lost+found/ directory with over 400,000 directories and over 750,000 files.
Can anyone suggest how to go about determining what they are and what to do with them?
They are files or fragments of files without name and owner recovered after a disk check. As far as I know you can only take a look at them as long as they are not deleted by the system.
There is a folder at the root of Linux and Unix operating systems called /lost+found/ What is it for? Under what circumstances would I interact with it? How would I interact with it?
