This isn't an original statement (but I can't find the original), but people sometimes pull out all sorts of technical reasons to justify what is actually an emotional decision. Sometimes a program (or system) just appeals to you for no specific reason. If there's nothing you're losing in LXTerminal then there's no reason to not use it. It's the terminal that goes with your desktop. Sorry, I don't have a specific answer to you question though.
