Solved libsys.so.7 not found after freebsd-update upgrade

I have just done a freebsd-update upgrade to 15.0.

and after rebooting I am stuck with a libsys.so.7 not found error when booting so the boot process never get to the login prompt.

This is under ZFS so I have no idea how I can access the filesystem.

What can I do?

From what? 14.3? amd64?

Did you do the upgrade on the 14.x system first? https://www.freebsd.org/releases/15.0R/installation/#upgrade-binary

If you didn't upgrade 14.x first, you end up with this issue:

Which I think matches what you are seeing. Sorry, I don't know how to fix it, just think it might be this issue.
That must have been it. I had forgotten I had installed it on this disk and there weren't any packages on it any way.

A fresh install of 15.0 recovered the situation.

I'll know in future not to be in such a hurry.

I did come up with the same problem yesterday on a different disk, but because the system was on UFS, I was able to boot up independently and copy over the missing file.

Doing this on ZFS is something I wouldn't know how to do.
