Other lenovofix

gpart() has a parameter specifically for the ThinkPad X220 (which I have) which I believe is preventing it from booting...

I tried applying this attribute running gpart set -a lenovofix -i 1 da1 but got

gpart: attrib 'lenovofix': Device not configured

Any ideas anyone?

lenovofix Setting this attribute overwrites the Protective MBR with a
new one where the 0xee partition is the second, rather than
the first record. This resolves a BIOS compatibility issue
with some Lenovo models including the X220, T420, and T520,
allowing them to boot from GPT partitioned disks without us-
ing EFI.

I'm wondering if this 'lenovofix' is specific to FreeBSD....If I applied this to a system which has a non-booting Grub2 loader, is there any chance of fixing it?

It doesn't necessarily seem to be related to FreeBSD, or am I missing something?

Thought I'd give it a try anyway - (nothing ventured...) and it did something...

My non-booting (on ThinkPad X220) disk now comes up with:-

error: unknown filesystem.
Entering rescue mode...
grub rescue>
I guess that's some sort of progress...
